Content
Kitehawk Learning is a self-paced, phonetic-based spelling and literacy program, developing a detailed knowledge of phonics and spelling skills, together with editing skills, vocabulary building, grammar and punctuation activities.
The Kitehawk Online Program has been developed from the popular print version developed since 2004.
Each Kitehawk Program takes up to 35 weeks to complete. There are up to 35 Units and up to 370 Activities in each Program. The International Phonics Association (IPA) notation system is used here to teach phonics.
The Kitehawk Online Program is systematic – growing in complexity as a student moves through Program 1 (Grade/Year 3) to Program 4 (Grade/Year 6).
The online program avoids surrounding students with sensation. No bell, no whistles. We encourage students to focus on the course work, to think and problem solve. There is no pointless and distracting animation, no flashing images, no audio din – just Activities and teaching points on which to concentrate and learn.

About the Author
Mark Nevill the author, self-published the first Kitehawk Literacy Program in 2004. The online version published in 2019 is based on the 2004 print program.
Mark Nevill graduated from the Graylands Teachers’ College in 1966, and was appointed to the government school at Balgo Mission in the southern Kimberley of Western Australia. Most of the Aboriginal children he taught were born in the Great Sandy Desert and had recently walked into the mission.
